This course introduces students to the study of language through the two major branches of linguistics: micro-linguistics and macro-linguistics. It explores the internal structure of language, including phonology, morphology, and semantics, as well as the relationships among language, society, cognition, communication, and the brain.
By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of the main concepts and subfields of linguistics.
Requirements
Basic knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary.
No prior knowledge of linguistics is required.

Biography of instructor
Dr. Thiziri Aziri is a university lecturer and researcher in linguistics at the University of Bejaia, Algeria. She holds a PhD in linguistics, specializing in Discourse Analysis. Her teaching and research interests include linguistics, discourse analysis, critical discourse analysis, and language studies. She has experience teaching linguistics-related courses and supervising Master's students on their research projects and dissertations.
